Purpose and Introduction
Although our funding emphasizes the development and offering of targeted workshops, we will use this webpage to reach out to a larger audience of population researchers and create a framework that we hope is sustainable post 2007. Specifically, we will use this page to provide selected links to relevant literature, descriptions of ongoing research projects, data, software tools, and information on conferences and workshops relevant to population scientists interested in GIS and spatial analysis applications and methods. We are especially interested in hearing from you about your papers, projects, software, and workshops. If you have suggestions to include on this site please send them to Stephen Matthews.
Our goal is that this site will foster and support peer-to-peer interaction between population scientists from diverse disciplines (e.g., demography, anthropology, criminology, economics, geography, rural sociology, sociology, and others) to share information about their ongoing spatially informed research projects. This website will complement the resources available elsewhere on the GIS and Population Science website as well as those available through the partner institutions (i.e., the CSISS website at UCSB and the GIA Core website at the Population Research Institute at Penn State).
